forgotten

…I’m ashamed to say…I did forget that June 6, 1944 was D-Day…my parents remember…Liberation Day…April 15, 1945…almost yesterday…still as thankful 67 years later…my mom and dad recall how our Canadian boys came riding in on tanks & jeeps…handing out cigarettes and candies…waving…singing…they remember…how can you forget 5 years as a child being frightened…my mom remembers a revolver to her dad’s head because he was known to be working in the Dutch underground…you want to talk Pay It Forward?…every night people knocking on your door asking for food and a place to sleep…forget?…shame on me…let’s talk to our war veterans…let’s talk to survivors…I will not forget again…Winston at that time said… “Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed to so many to so few”…today I wear a poppy…lest i forget…PIF.
