According to CS Lewis…’there are far better things ahead than any we leave behind.’ Wait what? Is losing sight of the shore where courage forces us to take a leap of faith? I mean why look back if we’re not going that way? Do we have a right to come into this life and go out without leaving something behind? Do we leave because things are hard? or do we leave because it’s no longer worth it? hmmmmmmmmmm…this is getting complicated…or is it? Do we look back because fear has tapped us on the shoulder? Perhaps it’s as simple as, no reason to stay is a good reason to go? What are these ‘things’ CS Lewis speaks of? According to Alice (Alice in Wonderland), “I can’t go back to yesterday because I was a different person then.” Does growth demand this letting go thing? I’ve let go of the power I thought I had a long time ago…but is that enough? Maybe becoming who we are meant to be is a lifelong journey…I think what it all boils down to is ‘the journey.’ It changes us…I mean we give and take our whole life, let’s hope if we leave something behind, it’s good.
