the power of power

Does power corrupt people or do people corrupt power? Is the way to have power…to take it? Is the real power of a man in the size of the smile of the woman sitting next to him? Is determination power? Lao Tzu has said, “Mastering others is strength, mastering self is true power.” Martin Luther proclaimed…”Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power…” hmmmmmmm…are we too smart for our own good? According to Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Before we acquire great power we must acquire wisdom to use it well.” …but Mr. smartypants Einstein said that the combination of wisdom and power has rarely been successful..this is a little disconcerting….have we given power a bad reputation? Does not great power come with the price tag of great responsibility? I’m thinking Plato nailed it, “The measure of a man is what he does with power.”  Do we give up our power by thinking we have none? Perhaps power distilled down may be defined as the ability to make things happen without violating the rights of others…Let’s listen to some Hendrix…”When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.”  I don’t know about you, but i’m looking up for my source of power. PIF.
